What is Google’s current thinking about getting links from article marketing, widgets, footers, themes, etc?
- Links that are not editorially thought through have less value e.g link in recurring footer throughout a website or on numerous webpages.
- Google gives greater value to links that have been chosen carefully.
- People who are lazy or take shortcuts to gain links will not do so well.
- No recent change.
Editorial comment: It is apparent that Google accepts that promoting a website and webpages by back linking (“getting links”) is inevitable.
The links should be as natural as possible.
